Deputy Director-General praises Shared Service Agency staff
Nearly 200 SSA staff members were nominated in the recent Staff Recognition Awards.
Deputy Director-General Tony Waters said "Since joining the Department of Public Works in September 2007, the Shared Service Agency has become an important part of the Department, earning a reputation for enthusiastic and proactive staff members who deliver quality services.
I am pleased to see an emphasis on innovation and continuous improvement in the award nominations. These are hallmarks of the shared service initiative," he said.
"The Department of Public Works focuses on supporting the Queensland Government by assisting agencies to deliver key services across the state.
This is also the aim of the Shared Service Agency as indicated in its vision of ?supported and connected government.?
It is clear that we are moving in the same direction," he said.
Tony was joined in his praise for SSA staff by Managing Director Mike Burnheim.
"We deliver payroll, recruitment, financial and other services to over 70,000 public servants so it will come as no surprise that there is a diversity of experience, skill and talent in our organisation, he said.
And there are unsung heroes out there also such as our teams who have assisted with payments to storm and flood victims in Queensland recently.
"The awards recognise the contributions our staff make to the organisation and the event highlights the skills, commitment and integrity of SSA Staff.
The quality of all the nominations made it hard to come to a decision about who had won," Mike said.
In regional centres across Queensland SSA teams also celebrated local excellence.
Regional Business Manager, Kev Archie, who travelled from Rockhampton for the Awards restated the SSA's commitment to regional customers.
"We will continue to work closely with our customers in the regions to provide improved services", he said.
